People with disabilities have immense been tucked away in hospitals, asylums or special schools. In more recent years, the mentally impaired or exceptionally challenged student has been moved into the regular education classroom and better alongside your everyday average students. This is due in grammatical constituent to a shift in attitudes towards the mentally challenged and several pieces of legislation. on with this has been several key court cases that have propelled the rights of Americans with disabilities to the forefront of education.
In the early centuries children with disabilities were considered a burden to objet darty and worthy only of extermination. This attitude remained until the early 1900s. Children began to be seen as worthy individuals, worth more to society as profitable members of its citizenry. Many doctors began to find ways to help those previously left(p) behind or forgotten.
Years of legislation and litigation brought nearly many flip-flops for those that were being discriminated against because of their race or disability. These court cases helped to change the attitudes of the nation towards those recently considered to be the scourge of the nation. President Kennedy was a driving force behind legislation that gave rights to the disabled, in part because he had a sister who was mentally impaired. He entangle that the rights of those suffering from things beyond their control should not hold them tail end in the area of education or the job market.
