To be honest, it is isnt easy for me to teach History. It is not beca pulmonary tuberculosis I dont like teaching it but because it seems a challenging undertaking for me as an educator to motivate my students to understand events, concepts and values from the prehistorical events. I believe that teaching History should not completely focus on the dates, places and scenes but the essence that we can ask out of the different events and those implications in the present setting. Its not about memorizing facts but appreciating the roles of people within a specific historical event.
As an Educator of History, I usually split my lesson with a good motivation, Something which might arouse students attention to focus on the lesson. As much as I could, I try to bring things that would materialize or at least deepen the understanding of my students. Sometimes I look for related videos, music and pictures just to serve the students go back into the scene which is the focus of my lesson. Since History is somehow muted for some students, I usually implement games like terminate Puzzles and Pictures of important characters in History.
There are skills and competencies that I animadvert essentials for the students to be developed in studying History. First, students should develop analytical skills.
The students of History should make do how to analyze facts and events and its relation with one another. Also, students should be able to analyze History using pattern such as cause and effect, relations etc. Second, students should develop hypercritical thinking skills. I believe that this skill would best be developed to the students with the help of teacher that would guide them towards the right expression of learning. An art of questioning would also be helpful. In addition, the use of different sources aside from the assigned one would definitely help widen the students horizon on different views and perspectives.
