The events also result into prolonged droughts in westerly areas such as the Indonesia and the Philippines.The effects of El Nino are not only felt in countries bordering the Pacific, rather, they are felt all around the world. However, the main effects of this phenomenon are felt in the Americas. These effects result into losses worth millions of dollars and also claims human casualties. However, the effects of the El Nino have been greatly diminished as a result of early warning systems and design of buildings and structures that can withstand the effects of heavy floods. Still, to a greater extent needs to be done to curtail El Ninos effects, particularly those occurring due to floods. Governments in abnormal areas need to sensitize persons living on coastlines on the dangers of El Nino besides helping in voidance ef forts if need
